Locksmith Authorization Policy

Sacramento Locksmith requires proof of ownership or authorization before performing any security-sensitive locksmith work.

Purpose of This Policy

This policy exists to protect homeowners, vehicle owners, and businesses from unauthorized access. As a BSIS-licensed locksmith (License LCO7971), Sacramento Locksmith is required under California law and our professional obligations to verify authorization before performing security-sensitive services.

When Authorization Is Required

Sacramento Locksmith may request proof of ownership, residency, or authorization before performing the following types of work:

  • Residential lockouts (entry to a home, apartment, or rental unit)
  • Residential lock rekeying or replacement
  • Automotive lockouts (opening a vehicle without the key)
  • Automotive key programming or transponder duplication
  • Commercial lockouts (entry to business premises)
  • Commercial master key system changes
  • Safe opening or combination changes
  • Any service involving bypassing or defeating a security mechanism

Acceptable Forms of Identification and Authorization

Depending on the service requested, we may ask for one or more of the following:

  • Residential property: Government-issued photo ID with address matching the property, current lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility bill, or property deed
  • Vehicle: Vehicle title, current registration, or proof of insurance listing the requestor as the insured party, plus a matching government-issued photo ID
  • Commercial property: Employee ID, business license, lease agreement, or written authorization from the property owner or business owner
  • Rental units: Lease agreement or written landlord authorization

Declined Service

Sacramento Locksmith reserves the right to decline any service request where adequate authorization cannot be established. We do not provide entry services to individuals who cannot demonstrate a legal right of access to the property or vehicle in question.

We do not perform services intended to circumvent the legal rights of another person, including lockouts requested during active landlord-tenant disputes or custody matters where legal proceedings are underway.

Law Enforcement Coordination

In situations where there is a reasonable concern about the legitimacy of a service request, we may contact local law enforcement. We cooperate fully with California law enforcement agencies.

Our BSIS License

Sacramento Locksmith holds California BSIS Locksmith License LCO7971. You can verify this license at the BSIS license verification portal. Our technicians carry identification at all times and will present it upon request.
